Recommended Reading: Mental Health

This is a list of some of the Books that I have read and videos you may find useful. Hopefully the general public will have an increased desire to become more knowledgeable of human behavior and mental health because of being exposed to the destructive behavior of Donald Trump and people like him.

According to the largest study ever conducted on personality disorders (PD) by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), 5.9% of the U.S. population has BPD (Grant et al. 2008) and 6.2% has NPD (Stinson et al. 2008). As some people fit both diagnoses, about 10 percent of the U.S. population has BPD and/or NPD.

The next video is about one of the key tactics used by Donald Trump. The sad thing is our news media dropped the ball during the election campaign and enabled and strengthened Trumps campaign of Fake News. The GOP didn’t take Donald Trump seriously and didn’t believe anyone else would either and also thought they could control him and use him back. Most public figures are Narcissist but not to the extreme of a Malignant narcissistic sociopath like Donald Trump. A healthy person has a health balance between narcissism and empathy. People who do not have a health balance between Empathy and Narcissism create problems for the rest of us.

  1. I would like to state that I am Not a mental health professional and any recommended reading and videos that I am sharing with you are ones that I have viewed or read and that I have found useful to
increase my understanding of human behavior of mankind and how to recognize unhealthy mental health issues and how to better respond to toxic or disturbed people. We can only estimate the number of people in society with serious behavioral problems either to themselves or to others. Because many of the behavioral traits are present to most of us during our life time. It is when certain behaviors or lack of certain behavior become frequent enough to create significant problems to either the person or to others effected by that person does it become defined as a problem. I have heard it estimated that 75% of the population are effected by a mental health issue either personally or because of contact with someone else during their lifetime. I have had numerous consultations with the mental health community throughout my lifetime for personal issues and family problems including consulting mental health professionals while going through a divorce and including for my children to aid in the adjustment to having divorced parents. I also have a family member with a personality disorder. From the many resources at my disposal I have learned that 5 to 10% of the population meet the requirements to be considered to have a mental health issue that creates a problems for the rest of the population. It is estimated that 1% of the population meat the requirements of a psychopath, which is just one of the many classifications of personality disorders frequent in our society. Most psychopaths successfully blend into society and hold positions of power in business, politics, law enforcement, lawyers and even surgeons. Only the unsuccessful and violent ones end up in prison. It is estimated that about 25% of inmates are psychopaths.
